VINCE HICKEY TROPHY

OUTSTANDNG LEADERSHIP, COMMITMENT & CONTRIBUTION

The Vince Hickey Trophy is the highest recognition within Lang Park. The trophy is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, commitment and contribution to basketball and the Club over many years.

Vince Hickey was a co-founder and the first coach of Lang Park. He played and coached for Brisbane and Queensland and imparted his wealth of knowledge to many exceptional coaches throughout the State, including those at Lang Park. Vince is remembered as the foremost basketball coach in Queensland. Sadly Vince passed away in 1989.

Vince was a driving force behind the formation of the Brisbane Amateur Basketball Association in 1957 (BABA now BBI). He was the first life member of BBI and his contributions to BBI have been perpetuated via naming of Brisbane Basketball's Auchenflower stadium in his memory.

Vince is an original inductee of Basketball Queensland's Hall of Fame and the Basketball Queensland Champion Association Trophy is named in his memory.
