MOST Promising Junior Boy

Robert Young (OAM)  is one of the founding fathers of Lang Park and the the foremost driver of junior boys development in Queensland for 50 years. There are few people who have given so much of their time, talent and love to the sport of Basketball.

Bob was a founder and the inaugural coach of the Brisbane Bullets and held the positions of Secretary to BBI, Basketball Queensland and the Australian Junior Basketball Council and was Basketball Australia Junior Commissioner from 1986 until 1992.

Basketball Australia’s Under 16 Men’s National Championship trophy is named in his honour.

His tireless efforts and achievements in basketball saw Bob honoured with multiple accolades including:

• Medal of the Order of Australia,

• Australian Sports Medal

• Basketball Australia Lifetime Achievement Award.

• Life Memberships of the Queensland and Brisbane Basketball Associations
